How to empower your teens and encourage self-love and self-worth…

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a teen in our world today? Can you imagine having to keep up with all of the trends, social media influencers, and new Tik Tok dances? Do you remember what you went through during those years and how much there was to juggle even when you just had to think about the best instant messenger name?

Teens today are living in a fast-paced, consumer-driven world where they idolize other teens who have millions of followers on social media. They are influenced by what they constantly see on their screens and compare themselves with all the constructed images being filtered into their algorithm every minute. They aren't taught skills on how to navigate this new social world and they end up experiencing emotional and mental distress because of it.


This era of teen development is filled with body image issues, bullying, low attention spans, suicidal thoughts and several other serious clinical issues. Every day we see more teens developing anxiety, depression, PTSD, eating disorders and suicidal tendencies. The epidemic of mental health issues amongst teens is more prevalent than ever and now its the time to start taking action in creating real positive change amongst our next thought leaders.

Our collective mission can be to empower teens to live in harmony with their most authentic selves  and to have an awareness and a connection to their mind, body, soul. To do this we need to teach them about self-love, self-care and holistic healing. We can encourage them to love their bodies, think positively and feel an energetic connection to the world around them. We can show them that change is possible and encourage them to dream big, so big. We can introduce them to healthy habits and influence them to show up consistently in all that they want to accomplish. We can express support, love, and warmth in our words and ingrain the importance of who they truly are. We all have a role in empowering the teens of this world and we all have a responsibility to be the model of empowered beings living an empowered life.

 Whether you are a parent, a family member, a loved one, or a teen yourself we can all learn more about how to influence future generations in being the best we all can be. We can start with empowering our minds to find the learnings in all situations and take away a positive perspective for personal growth. We can allow ourselves to experience emotions and release the energy we normally push aside. We can start to trust the messages from our bodies and connect deeper to the magic of its inner essence. We can believe in something bigger than this physical world and know our Higher Self is standing by our side.

When we start to change ourselves inside we begin to change the world around us.

This is the message we need to send to our teens and it starts with us. It is a trickle down effect from the top-down and the energy carries on to generations beyond. Start by empowering yourself and the teens around you will catch on fast


Here are some intentional ways to empower yourself while also empowering the teens of this world…

  1. Use positive language patterns and positive affirmations repeatedly to install an empowering unconscious mindset. Speak positively to teens and send them empowering messages as often as possible.

  2. Feel your emotions freely and show others that having emotions is normal and absolutely okay. Talk to teens about their emotions and validate what they are feeling.

  3. Use release techniques such as exercise, meditation, mindfulness, journaling, and yoga to let go of stuck emotions and energies. Invite teens to participate in these experiences and to try them on their own.

  4. Spend time away from your phone, TV, and all electronics. Take breaks from the screen and go outside, have deep conversions, or play games. Set boundaries on-screen time with teens and show them there is more to do than what is on their screen.

  5. Exercise regularly and eat healthy, nutritious meals. Teach teens how to create healthy habits and how to feel good in their bodies.

  6. Read intentionally for personal growth. Educate teens on ways to expand their ln

  7. Spend time doing what you love and what lights you up. Show teens how important it is to feel passionate about what they do and to spend time engaging in what interests them.

  8. Surround yourself with a positive, uplifting community. Remind teens the 5 people you spend the most time with are the ones that influence who you are and who you become the most.

  9. Be authentically you. Allow teens to be themselves and to have authentic self-expression in their style and voice.

  10. Have compassion and be kind to others. Encourage teens to build loving kindness in their hearts and to treat others with love, inclusivity, and oneness.

  11. Set goals and take action. Inspire teens to live their wildest dreams by creating SMART goals and using the compounding effect to take effective action in the pursuit of what they want.

 

At SABI Pathways Holistic Wellness we believe that the teens are the future of our world and we want to start empowering them as early as possible. We want them to know they have the power to make a difference in their lives and in the lives of others. We want them to know they can be anybody they want to be when they put their mind to it and follow through with “perfect” practice in self-empowerment techniques.

We are currently offering a weekly virtual Girls Empowerment Therapy Group on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm starting July 7th, 2021 for girls ages 12-17.

We will create a safe space to lift one another and strengthen resiliency. Group discussion topics will include self-love, body positivity, relationships, mental health, and holistic healing.
